Public Exhibition “IllusoriaMente”

From the 2nd to the 6th of September, ECVP 2012 and VSAC 2012 are organizing a special exhibition called “IllusoriaMente” (in English both illusorily and the illusory mind) dedicated to the memory of the late Prof. Richard Gregory and Prof. Tom Troscianko and celebrating the ingenuity and creativity of ECVP and VSAC attenders in producing attractive scientific/artistic products ranging from visual illusions to all kinds of experimental tools/procedures to applications/implementations of theories, mechanisms and principles ruling the visual system.

The exhibition will be open to town residents, tourists, scholars, members of the university of Sassari, students and children all around Sardinia and will be advertised in newspapers and TVs. Detailed information for submitting scientific/artistic products are available on the IllusoriaMente page.The exhibition will be hosted in the three fourteenth-century Aragonese towers: the Esperò Reial (or Torre di Sulis) tower, the octagonal tower of San Giacomo, the circular tower of la Polvorera and Castilla tower. The towers are connected by defensive walls.

IllusoriaMente Show Time

IllusoriaMente Show Time will be held at the Carlos V Hotel on Monday 3 September, 19:00 - 21.00.

Welcome Reception

The welcome reception will take place at Villla Mosca Charming House, Via Gramsci 17, at 19:00 on Sunday 2 September.

Banquet dinner

The banquet dinner will be held at Villa Loreto Country Residence & Restaurant, located just over two kilometers from Alghero on Wednesday 5 September. Authentic Sardinian food, all prepared according to traditional recipes, accompanied by renowned Sardinian wines and followed by typical local desserts will be served.

During the banquet you will have the opportunity to listen to “Tenores di Bitti”, whose “cantu a tenore” was proclaimed by the UNESCO in 2005: "Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity". The “cantu a tenore” is an archaic Sardinian singing that reproduces and evokes sounds of nature and animals of Sardinia.
Furthermore, you will see the typical traditional dance of Sardinia, the Ballo Sardo, typically danced in groups during village festivals, and why not, enjoy the dances!

The cost of the banquet dinner is 60€.

Excursion to Neptune’s Grotto

ECVP and VSAC attendees and guests can visit Neptune’s Grotto at a special price (more information soon).

The Neptune’s Grotto is a stalactite marine cave near Alghero. The grotto is at the foot of the Capo Caccia cliffs. It can be reached by boat (it is a nice trip from the port of Alghero) or by road (there is a 654-step stairway cut into the cliff which leads from a car park at the top of the cliff down to the entrance).
